Mahn, Daniel

Daniel J. “Danny” Mahn, 56, of De Soto died June 3, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Mahn was the sexton for Calvary Cemetery in De Soto and an employee of Mahn Funeral Home, as well as the former owner of Mahn Towing. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in De Soto and De Soto Elks Lodge 689 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, board games, word games and his dogs, Tequila and Chopper. Born Dec. 24, 1960, in Festus, he was the son of Doris (Vance) J. Mahn of De Soto and the late Edward J. “Ed” Mahn.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son: Nathaniel Mahn of De Soto; a daughter: Jennifer (Neil) Goff of Fort Stewart, Ga.; a brother: Roy (Carol) Lee Lewis of Anaheim, Calif.; a sister: Sandra (Edward) Lewis-Dahl of Lakespur, Colo.; two grandchildren: Josie Goff and Joel Goff; four nieces: Lisa Mahn-Donnell of De Soto, Jamie Mahn of De Soto, Sarah Dahl of Boston, Mass., and Sarah Tava of Irvine, Calif.; three nephews: Greg Dahl of Denver, Colo., Eric Dahl of Columbus, Ohio, and Barton Dahl of Denver, Colo.; 11 great-nieces and nephews; two great-great-nieces; four aunts; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother: Edward James “Jimmy” Mahn.

Visitation is scheduled from 3-8 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, officiated by Father Alex Anderson. Burial is in the Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Calvary Cemetery Foundation, Families of Calvary, P.O. Box 222, De Soto, 63020. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
