Coy L. Smith, 92, of Union died Sept. 17, 2019, in Union. Mr. Smith was a U.S. Navy veteran who fought in World War II. Mr. Smith took part in Honor Flight. He enjoyed horseshoe tossing, dancing, camping, hunting and fishing, and he had a great sense of humor. Born March 29, 1927, in Licking, he was the son of the late Minnie Artie (Jones) and John Dewey Smith.

He is survived by his wife: Donna Jean (Moorshead) Smith; five children: the Rev. Terry Jean Smith, Coy Lynn (LaDonna) Smith, Alan Douglas (Suzie) Smith, Clinton Gregory (Debbie) Smith and Tammy Diane (Chuck) Tresch; a sister: Edith Alberta McKinney; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by five siblings: Ray John Smith, Leo Dewey Smith, Bonnie Juanita Riley and two infant twin brothers; two half-siblings: Everet and Pauline Troutman; and a grandson: Nathan Charles Tresch.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the funeral services at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at Boone Creek Cemetery in Licking. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674; the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, 63108; or the National Meningitis Association, P.O. Box 60143, Ft. Myers, FL 33906. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
