The Windsor C-1 Board of Education has extended the contracts for Superintendent Jason King and assistant superintendent Mike Rickermann by one year.
The board voted 4-0 during a Jan. 10 workshop to add a year to King’s contract, extending it to the 2026-2027 school year. Then, the board voted 7-0 at a Jan. 24 meeting to extend Rickermann’s contract, extending it to the 2025-2026 school year. Windsor school board president Michael Dubis and board members Melanie Willis and Tom Krupp were absent for the workshop vote.
“We’re very happy with the work (King) has done at this time,” Dubis said. “We evaluated him. With Mike Rickermann, he’s evaluated by (King), and he’s happy with the work Mike’s done.”
Dubis said board members feel comfortable working with both King and Rickermann.
“We’re looking forward to implementing the plans they have in place as the district grows,” he said.
In the spring, when the school board works on the district’s next budget, which will run from July 1 to June 30, 2025, it will establish new salaries for King and Rickermann, Dubis said.
“Their salaries will increase with the teachers when the board sets the new budget,” he said.
King’s current annual salary is $160,148 and Rickermann’s is $143,000.
Both King and Rickermann, who have been working in their current positions since July 1, 2022, said they are happy about their contract extensions.
“I am grateful to the Windsor C-1 Board of Education for the opportunity to continue serving as superintendent of a great school district,” King said. “I am excited about the future and remain committed to the success and well-being of our students. Together, we will strive to provide the best possible education for the children in our community.”
Rickermann echoed those sentiments.
“I’d like to thank the board members for their confidence in me and couldn’t be more excited to continue working with the great people of Windsor,” he said.
