The Windsor C-1 Board of Education recently extended the contracts for Superintendent Jason King and Assistant Superintendent Mike Rickermann by one year.
Board members voted unanimously at separate meetings in January to extend the two contracts. On Jan. 8, the board agreed to add a year to King’s contract, extending it through the 2027-2028 school year. Then, on Jan. 22, the board agreed to extend Rickermann’s contract through the 2026-2027 school year.
King’s current salary is $165,808, and Rickermann’s is $148,624. Their salaries for next school year will not be determined until the spring, when the board sets a district budget for the new fiscal year. Both King and Rickermann’s salaries will be related to the 2025-2026 salary schedule for teachers, which also will be set in the spring, King said.
King
Michael Dubis, the board president, praised King for his leadership.
“We’re very happy with his performance thus far,” Dubis said. “He’s got a great buy-in from the administrators and teachers on programs he’s implemented to improve our education process.”
King said the programs started during his superintendency have been team efforts.
“As a district, we’ve focused on strengthening curriculum and instruction, increasing teacher collaboration and enhancing the instructional leadership of our principals,” he said. “By providing professional growth at all levels, we aim to create the best possible learning environment for our students and ensure their success.”
King, 45, of Bismarck, has been the Windsor superintendent since July 1, 2022, the same date Rickermann became the district’s assistant superintendent.
“I’m honored to have the board extend my contract for another year,” King said. “Windsor C-1 is a fantastic place to work, and I’m looking forward to continue working with our school community to benefit students.”
Before coming to Windsor as superintendent, King worked for five years as the superintendent of the Bismarck R-5 School District in St. Francois County.
King and his wife, Janna, have two children.
Rickermann
Rickermann, a 1992 Windsor High graduate, served as director of student options and alternative programs for the Farmington R-7 School District before joining Windsor as assistant superintendent. Prior to that, he worked for Windsor for nearly two decades as a teacher, coach and administrator.
“I’m just honored to serve the Windsor C-1 School District and to continue working with Dr. King for the Windsor C-1 School District,” said Rickermann, 51, of Festus.
Dubis said board members feel King and Rickermann make a good team.
“The board really thinks those two work together well, mixing new ideas together, with Jason coming from outside of the district and Mike coming back to the district,” Dubis said.
Rickermann and his wife, Melissa, have two children.
