As part of the annual Arnold Days, lots of fun festivities will be held this weekend in Arnold City Park. Activities run from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m. tonight (Sept. 15) through 9 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 17). See the list below for a schedule of activities.
Friday
■ 5 p.m. – Carnival rides; craft, vendor and food booths; petting zoo and pony rides open until 11 p.m. at Arnold City Park on Bradley Beach Road, off Jeffco Boulevard near the Meramec River.
■ 7 p.m. – Johnny Rock-ITT and the Doublewide Symphony will play until 11 p.m. at the Arnold City Park bandstand.
■ 9:15 p.m. – Fireworks display. Sponsor: Anheuser-Busch.
■ 11 p.m. – Park closes.
Saturday
■ 7 a.m. – Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, at Ponderosa Steakhouse, 3601 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold. Keynote speaker is Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy Cardona. $10 admission. Sponsor: Arnold Rotary Club.
■ 8 a.m. – Registration begins for the Arnold Police Officers Association Car and Bike Show, at Arnold City Park. Registration will close at noon, when judging begins. Awards will be announced at 4 p.m. Car or bike entry in the show is $20. Proceeds to benefit the association.
■ 8 a.m. to noon – Arnold Farmers Market at front of Arnold City Park.
■ 8:30 a.m. – Registration for the Children’s Fishing Tournament, which begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Arnold City Park lake. Entry is free for children ages 1-12. Sponsor: Arnold-Imperial Optimist Club. Prizes will be awarded in three age divisions.
■ 9 a.m. – The St. Louis Longbeards will offer children’s birdhouse making event, BB gun, archery shooting and other children’s nature activities near the lake at Arnold City Park until about 4 p.m. All activities are free. At 10 a.m., the group will begin giving out free hot dogs and water while the supply lasts.
■ Noon – Carnival rides; craft, vendor and food booths; petting zoo, pony rides reopen at Arnold City Park until 11 p.m.
■ 1 p.m. – Hot dog-eating contest. $100 for first prize. Sponsored by Arnold Jaycees.
■ 7 p.m. – The Joe Dirt band will perform until 11 p.m. at the Arnold City Park bandstand.
■ 8:45 p.m. – Fireworks display. Sponsor: Anheuser-Busch.
■ 11 p.m. – Park closes.
Sunday
■ Noon – Carnival rides; craft, vendor and food booths; petting zoo, pony rides reopen at Arnold City Park until 9 p.m.
■ 1 p.m. – Arnold Days Parade begins at Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., proceeding north on Jeffco Boulevard and ending at Arnold City Park. Sponsor: SSM Health St. Clare Hospital.
■ 3 p.m. – The Marine Corps League Color Guard based at VFW Post 2593 in Arnold will perform a flag exchange at the flagpole in Arnold City Park. The color guard will take down the current American flag, observe a moment of silence to honor those who have served and install a new flag and remove the old one for ceremonial disposal.
■ 4:30 p.m. – Dance Floor Riot will perform until 8:30 p.m. at the Arnold City Park bandstand.
■ 9 p.m. – Festival closes.
