A concert to raise money for Arnold Police Officer Ryan O’Connor and his family will be held Saturday (Jan. 13).

The concert, “Bands Backing the Blue,” will be held from 2-10 p.m. at the Arnold VFW, 2301 Church Road.

Admission is $20.

Bands lined up to perform include Dance Floor Riot, Throw the Horns, Lucy’s Palace, Plaid to the Bone, DJ Maze and Tia Tricamo.

The event also will include silent auctions, raffle baskets, a 50-50 drawing,, food and drinks and the sale of T-shirts.

Organizers say 100 percent of the proceeds will go to O’Connor and his family.

O’Connor was shot in the head by a burglary suspect on Dec. 5.

On Monday (Jan. 8) O’Connor reportedly was flown to a rehabilitation hospital near Denver.

A report posted Jan. 4 on the Arnold Police Department’s Facebook page said that O’Connor was breathing on his own after being taken off a ventilator and had opened his eyes.

Several other fundraising efforts have been held or are still underway.

The Arnold Police Department has sold thousands of T-shirts and sweatshirts to benefit the family.

Shield of Hope, a nonprofit organization, set up a GoFundMe account for the O’Connor family, and the BackStoppers organization also is collecting money for the family.
