Have pictures stored away from 2001 or earlier? The Leader invites area seniors to enter the annual Way Back When photo contest.
Winners will be drawn at random from all the entries. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the person whose name is drawn first, and $75 will go to the second person drawn and $50 to the third.
The contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for seniors, is open to all Jefferson County, Eureka and Wildwood-area readers who are 50 and older. Photos must be at least 25 years old and may feature people, places or events.
There is a limit of three entries per person.
The deadline to submit a photo in the contest is 5 p.m. Thursday, April 23.
Way Back When photo contest entries should include the following information:
■ Entrant’s name, age, address and phone number. (Entries missing this information will not be considered for prizes.)
■ The names of any people in the photo.
■ The date and place the photo was taken and by whom.
■ Any other information about the photo that explains why it is memorable.
Entries may be mailed to Leader, P.O. Box 159, Festus, 63028; dropped off at the Leader office, 503 N. Second St., in Festus; or emailed to news@myleaderpaper.com.
Photos will be returned if a self-addressed stamped envelope is included.
Winning photos and as many entries as space allows will be published in the May 7 Grand Times, which will be inserted inside that week’s paper. Photos not published in the Grand Times will be posted to the Leader website, myleaderpaper.com.
The photo contest is being held in conjunction with the Leader’s South County Senior Expo to be held from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 13, at the South County Family YMCA, 12736 Southfork Road, in south St. Louis County.
