Twin City Days organizers have canceled, postponed or moved events indoors in response to forecasts for heavy rain today through Saturday (Sept. 6-8), covering almost the entire length of the annual festival.
Activities to still be held but at new locations include:
■ Friday’s Cobblestone Celebration, which includes the Art Walk and Bottle Rockets concert, has been moved from Mississippi Avenue in Crystal City and the surrounding area to the Quality Inn, 1200 W. Gannon Drive, in Festus. The Art Walk runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the concert is slated for 8-11 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m.
■ The Twin City Pickleball Tournament, originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, now only will be held on Friday, from 6-11 p.m., at Jokerst Memorial Park in Festus.
■ Saturday’s Tanglefoot Brewfest, originally scheduled for West City Park in Festus, now will be held at the Quality Inn in Festus, from noon to 4 p.m.
■ The Washers and Cornhole tournaments on Saturday, originally scheduled for West City Park in Festus, will be held at The Ball Barn in Festus (registration begins at 8 a.m., play starts at 9 a.m.).
Events that have been cancelled or postponed, with new dates to be announced later, include:
■ From Friday – Four-Player Golf Scramble at Castle Ridge Golf Course; the Movie in the Park at Crystal City Park.
■ From Saturday – Twin City Pancake Breakfast at First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City; the Craft Fair in Festus and Crystal City; the Classic Car Show in Festus and Crystal City; the Downtown Food Court in Festus; the 5K Fun Run/Walk starting in Crystal City; Children’s ID Kits in Crystal City and Festus; Free Family Fun at First Baptist Church of Festus-Crystal City; Kids’ Games and Money Pit at Crystal City Park; Baby Crawling Contest at Crystal City Park; Dog Show and Costume Contest at Crystal City Park; Twin City Days Darts Championship at Midwest Bank Centre in Crystal City; Lucky Duck Race at West City Park; and Food Trucks at the Park at West City Park.
Events that are indoors and proceeding as planned include:
■ Twin City Days Trivia, starting at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Festus Intermediate School. Tables still available, and walk-ups are welcome.
■ Book Sale at the Festus Public Library, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
■ Free Kids Bowling at Quonset Lanes in Crystal City, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday.
■ Wine Tasting at Petit Paree in Festus, from 5-6:30 p.m. and from 7-8:30 p.m.
■ Grip Strength Contest at Athletico Physical Therapy in Festus, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
■ Hot Wheels Races at Twin City Toyota in Herculaneum. For ages 3-7, registration begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with races starting at 11 a.m.; for ages 8-15, registration starts at noon, with races starting at 12:30 p.m.
■ Ravioli Eating Contest at the Pasta House in Festus, starting s at 4 p.m. Saturday.
■ Kids’ Fishing at the Festus-Crystal City Conservation Club, 8-11 a.m. Saturday.
Some activities already were held this morning as planned, such as the Twin City Days Breakfast and the Seniors in the Park.
