A Jefferson City woman died after she was hit by a pickup truck in a parking lot Friday afternoon.
Jefferson City police officers responded to a bar called The Office in the 900 block of West McCarty Street around 3:45 p.m., according to a law enforcement news release.
Upon arrival, they located a 67-year-old woman who was conscious, alert, and appeared to have moderate injuries, according to the release.
She was treated by EMS at the scene and transported by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia, according to the news release.
Officers reviewed surveillance video and conducted an additional crash investigation, helping them determine the circumstances of the crash.
The pickup truck's driver, a 57-year-old Jefferson City man, showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the release.
The department submitted a probable cause statement to the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office ahead of possible formal criminal charges, according to the news release.
Officers learned the woman died from her injuries around 5:20 p.m., according to the release.
