Six tow trucks parked outside Big Boy’s Towing and Recovery, 18515 Hwy. 66, in Eureka were struck by bullets early this month. The damage to the trucks was estimated at more than $40,000, Eureka Police reported.

Investigators are trying to identify two people who could be seen on surveillance footage standing near the business and allegedly firing guns toward the trucks. It looked like the suspects were men, Lt. Michael Werges said on Jan. 14.

He said it’s unknown why the suspects would have been shooting at the company’s trucks.

The company’s owner contacted police at about 6:40 a.m. Jan. 4 after discovering the damage to the trucks.

Officers found numerous bullet holes and bullet fragments in and around five of the six trucks that were still at the business. One of the damaged trucks was being used and was not at the business while the police were on the scene, according to the report.

The damaged trucks included a 2020 Peterbilt, a 2013 Peterbilt, a 2020 Dodge Ram and three 2019 Freightliners, police reported.

Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
