The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that damaged a house in the 200 block of West Miller Street in De Soto on May 13. No injuries were reported, De Soto Fire Capt. James Coleman said.

The De Soto Fire Department got a call at 11:39 a.m. about the fire and remained there until 4 p.m., Coleman said.

He said the property owners were in the process of moving out and weren’t at the house while firefighters were on the scene.

As of May 16, the cause of the fire was not known, Coleman said.

He said he wouldn’t provide many other details about the fire because it is under investigation.

“Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, it was turned over to the fire marshal,” he said.

The De Soto Rural, Hematite, Hillsboro, Jefferson R-7, Cedar Hill and Big River fire protection districts and the Festus Fire Department helped with the call.
