jcso 2 children dead 5-28-24

Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office is investigating damage to one vehicle and a theft from another vehicle left for repairs at Rogers Truck Repair, 122 Little Bussen Drive, in unincorporated Fenton. Surveillance video showed two people with flashlights on the property at about 12:45 a.m. Feb. 3, and they allegedly were getting in and out of vehicles on the property, the report said.

Deputies were called to the business later that day, and they found a steering column on a 1998 GMC Sierra was damaged and Dewalt power tools missing from a 2011 International semi-truck. The power tools were worth about $800, and an estimate for the damage to the Sierra was not available, according to the report.

As of Feb. 17, none of the stolen power tools had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
