Charlie Edward Brown, 19, of Arnold and Gregory D. Allen, 28, of St. Louis have been arrested and charged with first-degree robbery for allegedly stealing food from a pizza delivery driver in the Arnold area on Dec. 1, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
As of Tuesday, Dec. 3, Brown and Allen were being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond. The robbery charge is a class A felony punishable by 10 to 30 years or life in prison.
On Dec. 1, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to report that an Imo’s Pizza delivery driver was robbed while delivering food in the Rex Aire Mobile Home Park outside of Arnold, the probable-cause statement in the case said.
When the driver attempted to deliver the food, two men approached him and tried to take the food. The driver told the men they needed to pay first but one man, later identified as Brown, made a threatening remark and the other man, later identified as Allen, appeared to have a gun sticking out of his clothing, the report said.
The driver said he let go of the food, and the two men took the food and ran away, according to the report.
Deputies canvassed the area and found what appeared to be a set of two fresh shoeprints in the snow going to and from a backyard of a nearby home on Adayah Lane, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
Officers obtained a search warrant for the home and arrested the two men, who fit the driver’s description of the suspects. The officers also found the food that had been stolen, the report said.
Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak praised the staff who worked on the case.
“First-arriving deputies did an outstanding job of following footprints in the snow from the crime scene to a nearby home where they spotted the suspects inside,” Marshak said. “They set up containment around the home and didn’t allow anyone to come or leave. That allowed the Detective Bureau to investigate, apply for warrants and make the arrests. Great job by everyone involved.”
