A 36-year-old Alton man was arrested at Arnold City Park after someone reported seeing him carrying a handgun, which turned out to be a BB gun. However, the man allegedly was found with marijuana and another illegal substance. The incident occurred at about 2:20 p.m. April 12, Arnold Police reported.
The man, who was wearing no shirt, had a tattoo on his back, and he was seen walking in a wooded area with a handgun in his pocket. An officer approached the man at his truck and determined the gun was a BB gun, but the officer also allegedly found marijuana, a white crystal substance and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, a report said.
The man was taken to the station where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results from the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Lt. Tom Leassner said.
