Festus Police are seeking a man who allegedly claimed he was exchanging an alternator but instead stole a new from Advance Auto Parts, 999 E. Gannon Road. The incident happened July 20, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
“An employee said a man came and said he needed an alternator for an exchange,” Lewis said. “When the employee turned his back, the man walked out with the alternator. He got into an orange Dodge Caliber and drove off.”
Lewis said the alternator was valued at $250.
As of July 23, the alternator had not been recovered, and the man had not been identified, Lewis said. Anyone with information is urged to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
