A 35-year-old Dittmer man and a 37-year-old Arnold man were arrested in connection with a pickup stolen from outside a home in the 700 block of Old Hwy. 141 in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The victim said he parked his 2003 Ford F-250, which was missing its tailgate, at about 8 a.m. Aug. 11. He said he locked the pickup, but it was gone when he returned at about 6:20 p.m. Aug. 15, the report said.
The Sheriff’s Office determined the pickup was being driven in the Arnold area by using the Flock license-plate reading camera system. Investigators then connected the two men to the pickup, according to the report.
The younger man was arrested Aug. 18 in Arnold and taken to Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where he was held for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
Deputies located the other man and released him at the scene pending application for a warrant, Bissell said, adding that he did not know when and where deputies found him.
Bissell said the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the men through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.
He said the stolen pickup was recovered on Aug. 24 in Dittmer.
