An Imperial man was arrested after he allegedly fled from police and crashed into this Arnold-area garage.

A 28-year-old Imperial man was arrested after he allegedly crashed a car into an Arnold-area garage and then tried to run away. The incident happened Dec. 13, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At about 1 p.m., a deputy saw a 2006 Chrysler 300 on Lonedell Road that did not have a front license plate. The deputy turned on his vehicle’s lights and siren and attempted to pull over the driver, but he allegedly did not stop and instead eventually sped off, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.

The deputy did not engage in a pursuit and reported that the car failed to yield. A short time later, the deputy saw the Chrysler had crashed into an attached garage at a home in the 4200 block of Lonedell Road. The driver had gotten out of the car and tried to run, but he was quickly taken into custody, Bissell said.

The Chrysler went through the side of the garage and struck another vehicle parked inside it, Bissell said. He did not have an estimate for the damage.

The Rock Community Fire Protection District posted on its Facebook page that a temporary support beam was used to reinforce the garage until a repair company could arrive.

Bissell said the driver already was wanted in Jefferson County on warrants issued for weapons charges.

The Sheriff’s Office will seek another charge against the man through the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for resisting arrest by flight stemming from the Dec. 13 incident, Bissell said.
