A fire destroyed a house in the 4200 block of East Swaller Road in Imperial and left the person who lived there with burns, Saline Valley Fire Protection District officials reported.

Assistant Chief Chris Harris said Saline Valley Fire received a call at approximately 12:50 p.m. Nov. 10 about the fire.

“The fire started in the garage area and extended into the residence,” he said.

Harris said the occupant was transported by Rock Township Ambulance to a hospital for burns.

Harris would not give the person’s gender or age and said today, Nov. 13, that he had no further information regarding the person’s condition.

Harris said he is not aware of any one else who lives in the house.

He said today, Nov. 13, that the cause of the fire was “undetermined, but not suspicious.”

Firefighters remained on scene for about three hours, he said..

“The residence is not able to be lived in due to significant roof damage,” Harris said.

He said the Red Cross was notified, but he did not know if the occupant had received assistance from the organization.

The Rock Community, Antonia and Fenton fire protection districts helped with the call, and the Rock Township Ambulance District responded to the scene.
