Brett S. Goldsberry, 28, of Hillsboro has been charged with two felonies in connection with recent thefts from homes in the Raintree Plantation subdivision in the Hillsboro area, authorities report.
Between May 27 and May 28, Goldsberry allegedly entered an open garage in the 9800 block of West Vista Drive and stole two lawn trimmers, together valued at about $700. Later, he allegedly pawned the items for $100, the probable-cause statement said.
He also allegedly stole a ring worth more than $8,000 and a camping grill valued at about $200 from a neighboring home in the 6000 block of Red Bud Drive and pawned the ring on May 27 for $132 and the grill on May 25 for $50, the report said.
Goldsberry allegedly stole the ring and grill from a family member who had been letting him live in a camper outside the home, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
After Goldsberry was arrested, he allegedly admitted to stealing the trimmers, ring and grill, the report said.
On Wednesday (June 29), the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Goldsberry with one count of second-degree burglary for stealing the trimmers and one count of stealing for the theft of the ring and grill, both class C felonies. Each of the felonies is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
Goldsberry was being held today (July 1) at the Jefferson County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond, authorities reported.
He also was being held on nine other offenses, ranging from misdemeanor stealing to felony DWI and drug charges.
