Eureka Police are trying to identify three men who appeared to try to break into the Scoreboard Automotives Sales and Leasing dealership, 1375 W. Fifth St.

An office at about 3:25 a.m. Jan. 27 was patrolling the lot at the business and saw the damaged door. Surveillance video allegedly showed that at about 2:20 a.m. a Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled into Scoreboard’s parking lot and three masked men got out of the Jeep, the report said.

One of the men went behind the building and returned with a shovel, which he allegedly hit the front door with several times. When the door did not shatter, the three men left, according to the report.

Eureka Police were later notified by the Pacific Police that a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, similar to the one seen in the surveillance video, was reported stolen from the Tyler Trenary dealership, 2326 W. Osage St., in Pacific. The Grand Cherokee also was seen by Flock license-plate reading cameras traveling in Eureka, the report said.

The cost to repair the glass door was $698.03. As of Feb. 6, no suspects had been identified or arrested, Lt. Brett Grittini said. He asked anyone with information about the damaged door or stole Grand Cherokee to call the Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
