A fire destroyed a shed and damaged a detached garage in the 2100 block of Pearl Drive in Arnold on Monday morning (Nov. 25). No one was hurt, Rock Fire Marshal Jeff DeLapp said.
The Rock Community Fire Protection District got a call at 11:36 a.m. about the fire, and when the first truck arrived at 11:41 a.m., the shed was fully involved in flames and the fire was spreading to a nearby detached garage on the same property. So, firefighters turned their attention to the garage to contain the fire to just the exterior of that structure, DeLapp said.
He said the fire was quickly under control.
“The guys did a great job on the knock down on it,” DeLapp said. “They did an aggressive attack on it and knocked it down quickly.”
DeLapp said all the items in the shed, which included power tools, were destroyed, and the siding on the garage was melted.
He said today (Nov. 27) that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Saline Valley and Mehlville fire protection districts helped with the call, as did the Rock Township Ambulance District.
