A family of four lost their home in the 7200 block of River Trail west of Hillsboro after a fire destroyed it on Oct. 7. A man, woman and two children live in the home but were not there when the fire broke out, Hillsboro Fire Chief Brian Gaudet said.
The Hillsboro Fire Protection District got a call around 2 p.m. about the fire, he said.
“Crews arrived on the scene to find a single-story structure with fire going through the roof,” Gaudet said. “The house was a total loss.”
He said it looked like the fire started in the house’s electrical system.
“We have determined the fire was not suspicious at this time and are leaning to a potential electrical fire,” he said Tuesday (Oct. 12).
Gaudet said the American Red Cross was helping the family.
The Cedar Hill, De Soto Rural, Mapaville and High Ridge fire protection districts helped with the call. The Valle Ambulance District also responded to the scene.
