Three people escaped a fire on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 20) that damaged a home in the 2800 block of Pinebrook Court southwest of Arnold. The two women and one man were able to get out of the home before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported, said Fire Marshal Jeff DeLapp of the Rock Community Fire Protection District.
At 12:24 p.m., Rock Fire got a call about the blaze, and firefighters arrived at the home at 12:29 p.m. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes, DeLapp said.
He said fire spread from a fireplace into the home. The fire, which was ruled accidental, eventually reached the attic and caused damage to the garage and family room ceiling. There also was smoke damage in the home, DeLapp said.
The home was moderately damaged and is uninhabitable until repairs can be made, he said.
DeLapp said the Red Cross was contacted to help the occupants find temporary housing, if needed.
The Saline Valley Fire Protection District and the Rock Township Ambulance District assisted with the call.
