Two people safely got out of their home in the 2200 block of Morris Drive in Arnold after a fire started in the basement. The fire was caused by an electrical issue, and the home was moderately damaged, Rock Community Fire Protection District reported.
Rock Fire got a call about the fire at 3:09 p.m. Saturday, April 30, and the first truck arrived at the house at 3:14 p.m. Firefighters entered the home through the front door and put out the flames that had spread to the attic, the report said.
Firefighters from the Saline Valley Fire Protection District helped with the call and put out the blaze in the basement, according to the report.
A man and a woman who live at the home were asleep when the fire started, but smoke alarms woke them up, Rock Fire reported.
The home is uninhabitable, and the residents are staying with family members while the home is repaired, Rock Fire spokeswoman Stephanie Jackson said.
Rock Township Ambulance and Arnold Police also responded to the scene.
