A man who left his house in the 1000 block of North Mill Street in Festus for about five hours Dec. 12 returned to find it had been burglarized. The break-in was reported about 9:45 p.m., Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis reported.
“The victim left his house around 4:45 p.m. and returned around 9:40 p.m.,” Lewis said. “Forced entry had been made to a door. When he returned home, he noticed a light on.”
Stolen items included a pistol, money and jewelry. Altogether, the stolen items were valued at about $4,000, Lewis said.
He said Tuesday (Dec. 19) that there are no suspects and the investigation was ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call the Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
