A 20-year-old Festus man was arrested after he allegedly broke an Arnold Police officer’s body camera during a physical confrontation outside an Arnold bar. No injuries were reported for the officer nor the man.
Police got a call around 1:20 a.m. March 18 about the Festus man, who reportedly was intoxicated and harassing customers at the Tenbrook Station Lounge, 2946 Fannie Drive. In addition, the man allegedly refused to leave the establishment, the report said.
When an officer arrived, the man was standing outside the bar and told the officer he was trying to get a ride home but could not get one because no one liked him. The officer asked the man for identification, but the man turned away from the officer, according to the report.
The officer stepped closer to the man, who reportedly turned around and shoved the officer. The two struggled, and the officer tackled the man. A second officer responded to the scene and helped take the man into custody, Arnold Police reported.
After the altercation, the suspect allegedly told the officer, “That was a good match,” the report said.
Arnold Police did not give an estimate for the cost to replace the officer’s body camera that was broken during the scuffle.
The suspect was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released with a citation to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for fourth-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and second-degree property damage, Cpl. Brett Ackerman said.
