Eureka Police are investigating claims that a St. Louis teenager who was involved in a fight at the Six Flags amusement park went to the parking lot to get a gun from a car. In addition, authorities are trying to sort out where weapons found in a car in the parking lot came from, Capt. David Wilson said.
At about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 6, police got a report that the 17-year-old St. Louis man allegedly was seen with a gun inside a 2002 Monte Carlo parked outside the park at 4900 Six Flags Road in Eureka, the report said.
The teen told police he was never in the car and did not have gun. Security personnel claimed the teen was seen in the car with the gun but did not have the weapon when he got out of the car, according to the report.
An 18-year-old St. Louis woman was identified as the owner of the car, and when police contacted her, she said she did not know the teen, the report said.
When police searched the Monte Carlo, they allegedly found a Smith and Wesson SD9 VE pistol in the trunk. It looked like the pistol had been dropped from inside the car, behind the seat and into the trunk, police reported.
Officers also allegedly found an AR-15 rifle in the trunk that had been reported stolen from Florissant. The woman told police she did not know how either of the guns got into the trunk, the report said.
No one was arrested since no witnesses could confirm the teenage boy had a gun, and the woman could not be linked to the guns in the car. The weapons were confiscated, Wilson said.
As of Sept. 10, no suspect had been linked to the rifle that was reported stolen, Wilson said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
