Eureka Police arrested a 40-year-old Arnold man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The man allegedly registered a .211 percent blood-alcohol content, police reported.
In Missouri, .08 percent is the legal limit.
An officer stopped the man, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram, at about 12:20 a.m. Aug. 1. The man allegedly turned onto the shoulder of northbound Hwy. 109 from Hwy. FF and failed to maintain a single lane while driving on the highway, the report said.
The man allegedly crossed the center line six times and drove onto the shoulder twice. The officer stopped the man on the highway near City Hall Drive after the man drove through a red light, according to the report.
The man allegedly appeared intoxicated and told the officer he could not say how much alcohol he had consumed. The man refused to perform field sobriety tests and was arrested, the report said.
He was booked at the Police Station, where he provided a breath sample. Eureka Police also learned the man had been convicted of at least two prior DWI charges, according to the report.
The man was released pending the application for charges, the report said.
Eureka Police will seek a charge against the man through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony DWI, Lt. Brett Grittini said.
