A 34-year-old Eureka man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a 37-year-old Eureka woman in a home they shared on Schmelz Drive. The woman called an abuse hotline at 5:52 p.m. Aug. 29, and officers went to the home to check on her, Eureka Police reported.
The woman said she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend at about 8:30 a.m. Aug. 27. She said the man allegedly took her phone, grabbed her left arm and pushed her into a dresser. The woman had bruises on her arm, the report said.
She also said the man pushed her into a counter, choked her and raised his fist like he was going to hit her before she was able to get out of the home. She told police she got in her car and drove to Davisville, and the man followed her. She said after reaching Davisville, she went back to Eureka with the man following her the entire way, according to the report.
The man was found at the home the two shared. He already was wanted on outstanding warrants, the report said.
He was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he allegedly admitted to grabbing the woman’s phone and pushing her, according to the report.
An order of protection was filed against the man, and he was released pending application for warrants. Eureka Police will seek a charge for domestic assault against him through the Eureka Municipal Court, Capt. David Wilson said.
