Man sentenced to 13 years in prison for drug trafficking

Christopher Hunt

A Jefferson County judge has sentenced Christopher J. Hunt, 51, of Lake St. Louis to 13 years in prison for drug trafficking. Hunt is a prior offender who pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges and three possession of a controlled substance charges in 2006 in St. Charles County, according to court documents.

Jefferson County Div. 1 Circuit Judge Jospeh Rathert on April 8 sentenced Hunt, who pleaded guilty to the drug trafficking charge, court records show.

Hunt was being held on April 9 at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office records.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay Whalen prosecuted the case.

According to the case’s probable-cause statement, a Sheriff’s Office deputy on Feb. 23, 2021, stopped a Chrysler 300 that Hunt was driving on Gravois Road near Bush Road in House Springs. The deputy stopped the car because it has license plates that were registered to a Ford Taurus.

The license plates were registered to Hunt, who told the deputy that he had recently purchased the Chrysler and had not transferred the plates. Hunt was on a conditional release at the time of the traffic stop due to a 17-year prison sentence he received in St. Charles County for trafficking and drug possession, the report said.

Hunt was arrested, and when the deputy searched Hunt, he found a digital scale in a jacket pocket. The deputy also found two bags containing methamphetamine and two more digital scales in the car, according to the report.

Court documents said Hunt had 450 grams or more of meth when he was arrested.
