Festus Police are investigating the recent theft of a catalytic converter from a van outside the United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City, 113 Grand Ave. The 2002 Chevrolet 3500 van, which seats 16, belongs to the church, Chief Doug Wendel said.
He said a church representative reported the theft May 18, but it is not known exactly when the theft occurred.
“They think it happened over the past week (before May 18),” Wendel said.
He said the damage to the van was estimated at $750.
The catalytic converter had not been recovered and no arrests had been made as of May 23, Wendel said.
