A Rock Community Fire Protection District firefighter recently rescued a cat from a sewer pipe in the 2900 block of Sierra View Court in the Arnold area. Unfortunately, the cat, which appeared to have entered the pipe to hide after being attacked by another animal, did not survive, Rock Fire spokeswoman Stephanie Jackson said.
Rock Fire was called at about 10:40 a.m. on Easter, April 17, to the home, which is southwest of Arnold. Firefighter Jon Giesler arrived and climbed into the sewer to rescue the cat, the report said.
The cat was turned over to Jefferson County Animal Control, but after it was evaluated by a local veterinarian, it had to be euthanized, according to the report.
Rock Fire did not know if Animal Control was able to identify the cat’s owner before the veterinarian euthanized the animal, Jackson said.
