A 21-year-old Arnold man recently was arrested for allegedly driving a pickup through two yards in the 3500 block of St. Martin Drive, causing about $500 in damage at each home. At one of the homes, the culprit not only damaged the yard but also struck and damaged a basketball goal. At the other home, just the yard was damaged, Arnold Police reported.

Both incidents occurred early on Aug. 18.

One of the victims told police she heard a loud vehicle outside her house at about 4:30 a.m., and later she discovered the damage to her yard. The other victim reported the damage just before 5 a.m. and told police that the suspect was driving a red pickup, the report said.

Officers canvassed the area and spotted the pickup nearby. The man resisted arrest but eventually was taken into custody. He was booked and then released after being issued on summonses to appear in Municipal Court for property damage, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
