The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is looking for two men who allegedly burglarized a home in the 3100 block of Rock Creek Road in High Ridge but didn’t get away with much before a shotgun-wielding, 73-year-old woman who lives there scared them away.
At about 1 a.m. July 17, the men allegedly forced open a window in a bathroom to get inside the house. Then, the woman heard noises coming from a spare bedroom, got a shotgun and confronted the men, who fled, carrying a box of unknown items, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The woman could not say what exactly was in the box. So, the Sheriff’s Office has no estimate for the stolen items, Lt. Gary Higginbotham said.
The culprits left behind tools and other items at the scene that were taken as evidence. In addition, while canvassing the area, deputies found a cell phone in a yard that may belong to one of the suspects, the report said.
As of today (Aug. 5), however, no suspects had been identified, and there were no arrests, Higginbotham said. He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
