Hundreds of people turned out to watch the 2025 Pevely-Herculaneum Christmas Parade on Dec. 9, despite the event being rescheduled after a water valve broke in Pevely on Dec. 5, when the parade originally was supposed to be held.
“The parade went awesome,” Pevely City Administrator Andy Hixson said. “There were hundreds of spectators, for sure. We had well over 30 parade participants.”
Candace Siebert, the Herculaneum parks superintendent, agreed and noted the variety of parade entries in the parade, which started at William C. Haggard City Park in Herculaneum and ended at the corner of Joachim and Main Street in Pevely.
“We had several decorated Jeeps,” she said. “There were different decorated vehicles and floats. There were walking groups. Santa and Mrs. Claus were on the last float.
“The Toys for Tots group handed out stuffed animals, with the help of Scouts from Troop 467 and Troop 557.”
Siebert said some of those who took part in the parade tossed sweet treats to spectators.
“I received comments from a few families that they got more candy from the parade than they did at Halloween,” she said.
The rescheduling did force some groups to drop out, Seibert said.
After the water valve broke on Old State Road South in Pevely on Dec. 5, city employees had to make emergency repairs, and parade organizers reschedule the event.
“We didn’t have a marching band because Herculaneum High School’s band had a performance scheduled (Dec. 9),” Siebert said.
The parade’s theme was “Hometown Christmas.”
Siebert the winners in the parade entry contest were Culver’s, first place; Landmark Trailers, second place; and Pippin Towing, third place.
Hixson praised city employees for their help in making the event run smoothly.
“The police did a great job,” he said. “The Public Works employees did an awesome job. When we all work together as a team, wonderful results happen.”
Siebert said she enjoyed the festivities.
“It was my first time helping with the parade,” she said. “I look forward to helping make next year’s parade bigger and better.”
