Contest entries are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

Readers have one more week to send in entries to the Leader’s first Green Thumbs photo contest.

Pictures may include vegetable or flower gardens, interesting landscaping, homegrown flower arrangements, unusually large produce and more.

The contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for senior citizens, is now accepting submissions from residents of Jefferson County, Eureka and Wildwood who are 50 and older.

Readers are welcome to send up to three pictures for the chance to win. Three entries will be drawn at random to win cash prizes – $100 for the first name drawn, $75 for the second and $50 for the third.

The deadline to enter the contest is 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7.

Photo contest entries should include the following information:

■ Entrant’s name, age, address and phone number, so that winners may be contacted.

■ The date and place the photo was taken and by whom.

■ The names of any people in the photo.

■ Any other information about why the photo is special.

The Aug. 21 issue of Grand Times will feature as many entries as space allows, with all submissions posted to the Leader website. That issue also will include information about the Arnold Senior Expo, set for Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Arnold Eagles Hall.

Drop off entries at the Leader office, 503 N. Second St., in Festus or email them to news@myleaderpaper.com.

Photos accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope will be mailed back; others will be held for pickup.

For more information about the contest or about the Senior Expo, call the Leader at 636-931-7560.

Businesses and people who have a product or service of interest to those 50 and older are encouraged to call the Leader to reserve a booth or email ads@myleaderpaper.com.
