Northwest R-1 School District officials have extended Superintendent Jennifer Hecktor’s contract for another year. Her contract now runs through the 2026-27 school year.
The Board of Education voted unanimously in a Jan. 18 closed meeting to approve the contract extension.
“Dr. Hecktor has proven to be a strong, effective leader for the Northwest R-1 School District,” Board president Mary Thomasson said in a written statement from the district. “The Board of Education commends Dr. Hecktor for her guidance and leadership in moving the district forward.”
Her current annual salary is $184,500, district communications coordinator Chuck McPherson said.
Hecktor, who has been the Northwest district’s superintendent since the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, said she was pleased the board extended her contract.
“It is an honor and a blessing to serve our community in this role,” she said. “Going into my third school year, our team is confident that we are moving forward in a positive direction for all of our students. We are proud of the dedication of every staff member as they bring their best to kids each day, and we are excited to continue to further expand opportunities for our students.”
Before coming to Northwest, Hecktor worked as assistant superintendent of human resources for the Wentzville School District for seven years.
“The Board looks forward to working with Dr. Hecktor as she leads the Northwest R-1 School District with passion and purpose, keeping students’ education as our top priority,” Thomasson said.
