The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close northbound I-55 in the Herculaneum area overnight July 25-26, department officials announced today, July 22.

The I-55 closure of all northbound lanes at Joachim Creek between McNutt Street in Herculaneum and Hwy. Z in Pevely is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. Saturday, July 25, and end at 5 a.m. Sunday, July 26, the department said in a written statement. The closure will allow crews to shift northbound I-55 onto median pavement.

All work is weather permitting.

A signed detour will direct traffic around the detour. Drivers are to exit I-55 at McNutt Street (Exit 178), travel east on McNutt Street, north on Hwy. 61-67 and west on Hwy. Z before reentering northbound I-55.

The work is part of an estimated $246 million I-55 Corridor Improvements project that runs from just north of Pevely south to just south of Festus.
