The Mapaville Post Office will close on Friday, Aug. 14, and customers are encouraged to visit the Hillsboro Post Office at 4620 Yeager Road instead.
Tara Jarrett, strategic communications specialist for the United States Postal Service, said a notice was posted July 13, informing customers of the closure of the Mapaville location, 3823 Hwy. Z.
Alex Lupish, who owns the building, said he wouldn’t sign a contract renewing USPS’ lease.
“We don’t get along,” he said. “This is Alex’s world, and then we have the post office’s world. It’s like being married, and I’m calling for a divorce.”
Lupish said he is planning to rent the building out as office space.
The Hillsboro Post Office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.
