About 600 people attended the Harlem Wizards game on Oct. 24 at Jefferson College.
CB Walker, head women’s and men’s basketball coach, said the event went well.
“We had an opportunity to impact the community with a very fun event,” he said. “It seemed like everybody was very interactive and enjoyed the show that the Wizards had put on.”
Walker was a part of the team that played against the Wizards.
The team was comprised of Jefferson College, Jefferson County school district faculty and staff, as well as community members.
“It was very fun to be a part of that,” Walker said. “I didn’t know a lot of details that were put into that type of event, but I’m pretty sure myself and everybody else who had an opportunity to be on that Jefferson County All Star team really had a great time because I know I for sure did.”
Walker said people reached out to him after the event to say how thankful they were that the college held the event.
“I’m looking forward to continue to host events that are going to continue to bring our community out, engage our college with the community in the best form and fashion,” he said.
Walker said the Jefferson College basketball teams will hold an adult prom fundraiser event early next year.
He also has already been in contact with the Wizards to play a future community event.
“I’ve already been in conversations with them about some more upcoming events that we can possibly do,” he said.
The Jefferson College basketball season tipped off Tuesday.
“I know now we’re just about to get ready to tip off our season… so we’re really excited to get that going and have an opportunity to have our fans in the building for that,” Walker said.
