Today is the last day for readers 50 and older to send in pictures of their favorite local places in Jefferson County, Eureka or Wildwood.
The Leader’s Hometown Gems photo contest is held in conjunction with the Farmington Senior Expo on Sept. 24.
Those in Jefferson County, Eureka or Wildwood may send in photos of parks, attractions or other special spots. Submissions from businesses or business owners advertising their products or services will not be accepted.
Three winners will be drawn at random from among all the entries to win cash prizes – $100 for the first name drawn, $75 for the second and $50 for the third.
Readers are limited to three entries per person.
Photo contest entries should include the following information:
■ Entrant’s name, age, address and phone number, so that winners may be contacted.
■ The date and place the photo was taken and by whom.
■ The names of any people in the photo.
■ Any other information about the photo that explains why it is memorable or special.
Entries are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.
The Sept. 18 issue of Grand Times will feature as many entries as space allows, with all submissions posted to the Leader website. That issue also will include information about Leader Publication’s first Farmington Area Senior Expo, which will be at Mineral Area College’s Technology Center, 5270 Flat River Road, in Park Hills.
Drop entries off at the Leader office, 503 N. Second St., in Festus or email them to news@myleaderpaper.com
Photos accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope will be mailed back; others will be held for pickup.
For more information about the contest or about the Senior Expo, call the Leader at 636-931-7560.
Businesses and people who have a product or service of interest to those 50 and older are encouraged to call the Leader to reserve a booth or email ads@myleaderpaper.com.
