Motorists traveling on Hwy. MM between Hwy. 30 and east of Buckeye Valley Road can expect to encounter nightly roadwork as crews resurface the highway. Work on the stretch of the highway, which runs from House Springs to just west of Otto, began Monday, Missouri Department of Transportation officials reported.
“(Hwy. MM) in Jefferson County is under contract for pavement treatment, guardrail and sign replacement,” said Jordan S. Dalaviras, area liaison for MoDOT’s St. Louis District. “There has already been a lot of work done with guardrail and sign replacement that has taken place at night to have minimal impact to the traveling public.
“The contractor (was) looking to start the pavement portion of the project (on) Monday. This work will be milling (removing) the existing pavement and replacing with new to keep the road at the same elevation. We call this a mill-and-fill operation.”
Dalaviras said the work will take place at night to minimize impact for motorists.
“If someone does encounter the work zone at night, they will encounter a flagging operation,” he said.
Dalaviras said he is unsure when the project will be completed because it depends on the weather and the contractor’s schedule.
“The project must be completed by Oct. 1 per the contract for the project,” he added.
According to the MoDOT website, the $3.42 million project was awarded to NB West Contracting Team of Pacific in February.
