The Fox High School Alumni Association has devised a new way to honor the school’s graduates, students, current and former staff members and area businesses.
The association has started selling bricks for its Warrior Walk project, which will feature bricks with the names of people who attended or worked at the high school in Arnold.
Area businesses also may be represented on the bricks.
Anna Blair, an Alumni Association board member, said the group started selling bricks near the start of August. She said five bricks had been sold as of Aug. 10.
Blair said Tim Miller, who was inducted into the Fox High Hall of Fame last year as a teacher, came up with the idea of the Warrior Walk.
Miller taught speech, debate, literature, and radio and TV, and he is known as the “Voice of the Warriors” after serving as the public address announcer for the school’s football games and other athletic events for 40 years.
“We are looking to sell at least 500 bricks for this first phase,” said Blair, who graduated from Fox High in 1985 and whose mother, Judy Hudspeth (Holland), was inducted as a teacher into the school’s Alumni and Staff Hall of Fame last year.
“We have a good number of alumni, and we are hoping for a good response.”
The association is selling bricks in two different sizes and with two different options of what will be engraved on the brick along with the chosen name of a person or business that also will be on the brick.
The brick sizes are either 4-by-8 or 8-by-8. The inscription on the brick may be text only or text with the school’s symbol.
A 4-by-8 brick with only text costs $100, and the same size brick with text and symbol costs $125.
An 8-by-8 brick with only text costs $225, and the same size brick with text and symbol costs $250. Bricks may be ordered at bricksrus.com/donorsite/fhsalumni. To have bricks placed in the first phase of the walk, orders must be made by Dec. 31.
Blair said the money will be used to build the Warrior Walk, fund scholarships for graduating Fox High students and to pay for Fox High community events.
“You want to keep the legacy going,” Blair, 59, of Arnold said of creating the Warrior Walk. “It is to build pride in the school, and this is a lasting statement in pride in Fox High for me. Fox was instrumental in moving me forward in my future.”
Blair said the brick path will be placed in the courtyard that leads to the entrance of Fox High’s gymnasium and commons area.
The brick path will lead to a mural that was painted in 2024 on the gym’s exterior wall leading to the entrance.
“As we continue to upgrade our facilities, this will be another huge improvement, and with the walkway leading up to our mural, it will continue to showcase the pride in Fox High School,” said Joe Salsman, Fox High principal and executive board president of the Fox High School Alumni Association.
“The amount of feedback we have already received has been tremendous,” he said. “The Warrior Walk will show how important Fox High School is to the Arnold community. It is also a way to show that Fox High School played an important role in the lives of over 28,000 alumni and numerous staff members throughout the years.”
