It looks like the Festus Drury Inn, 1001 Veterans Blvd. (Hwy. A), will have new owners soon.
“We plan to convert it to La Quinta,” said Dhaval Patel of Chattanooga, Tenn., one of the partners looking to take over the Drury Inn.
He said the purchase closing date is slated for Jan. 20, and after that, the hotel is expected to be closed for six months for remodeling.
“A total rehab,” Patel said.
Patel said he and his partners own hotels in Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Alabama and Illinois.
“This will be our first in Missouri,” he said. “We have about 10 hotels.”
Patel said decisions about staffing size will come as the remodeling nears completion.
Drury Southwest is headquartered in Cape Girardeau.
Festus city staffers estimate Drury built and opened the hotel in the early- to mid-1980s.
