Emergency street repair recently began on Dunklin Industrial Court in Pevely.
The Pevely Board of Aldermen voted 6-0 May 6 to award a $10,950 contract to McCullough Custom Concrete in De Soto to complete the repairs.
The company submitted the lowest of three bids for the project.
During the May 6 Board of Aldermen meeting, City Administrator Andy Hixson stressed the immediate need to repair Dunklin Industrial Court, which is on the east side of Commercial Boulevard (Hwy 61-67).
“This is something we need to go with now,” he said. “It’s washing out.”
Ward 2 Alderman Steve Miles agreed.
“The whole side of the street is caving in,” Miles said.
Hixson said the wet spring contributed to the deterioration of the road.
“The street was getting real bad,” Hixson said Tuesday. “That’s why we addressed it (so quickly). Weather permitting, the work should be done in another week or so.”
Mayor Stephanie Haas and aldermen William Brooks and Travis Dittmann, both of Ward 4, were absent from the meeting.
