Robertson defeats incumbent in state House District 97 primary

David Robertson campaigns near a polling place at Woodridge Middle School in August.

Republican candidate David Robertson defeated Democrat Dan Schaefer in the race for Missouri House District 97.

Robertson of High Ridge received 6,496 votes (53 percent) while Schaefer of Fenton received 5,621 votes, according to complete, but unofficial election results.

Robertson defeated incumbent David Casteel in the August primary. Casteel had held the seat since 2022.

District 97 covers a portion of northwest Jefferson County, including High Ridge, Murphy and Fenton.

Efforts to contact Robertson on election night were unsuccessful.

Robertson, a retired physics and mathematics professor, from High Ridge ran as a constitutional conservative with a goal of restoring the founding fathers’ vision of limited government to Missouri, a government whose sole purpose is to protect and preserve the inalienable rights of the people and returning government to serving the interests of the citizens, not special interests and lobbyists.
