In a close race, Holly Jones was reelected as the state representative for District 88.
Jones, a Republican from Eureka, received 8,551 votes (51.65 percent) votes while challenger Jennifer Trickey, a Democrat from Fenton, received 8,005 votes, according to complete, but unofficial election results Tuesday.
Jones was elected to her first term in November 2022. District 88 covers parts of St. Louis County including Eureka.
“I’m beyond grateful to the people of District 88 who trusted me to represent them for another term – but this election was a wake-up call,” Jones said Tuesday night. “The stakes are too high for business as usual, and there is too much on the line for our children, our families and the future of our state.”
She said she is not going back to Jefferson City to maintain the status quo or play political games.
“I’m going back to stand firm in my convictions, challenge what needs to be challenged and fight for what I know is right – even if that means making some people uncomfortable,” Jones said.
As state representative, she has chaired the Children and Families Committee. She also has been a member of the Crime and Public Safety, General Laws, Joint Committee on Government Accountability and Joint Committee on Public Assistance.
Prior to being elected, Jones worked in global logistics and as a civilian contractor in program management for a global technology company specializing in contracts for the Air Force, Navy and Department of Defense.
