The Jefferson College Board of Trustees has extended President Dena McCaffrey’s contract through the end of the 2025-2026 school year.

Board members voted 5-0 during a Jan. 11 closed executive session to approve the one-year contract extension for McCaffrey. Board member Marc Williams did not attend either the executive session or the meeting.

“We are very excited to have Dr. McCaffrey as the Jefferson College president,” board president Margie Passmore said. “We feel she’s doing a fantastic job, and we’re looking forward to working with her in moving the college forward.”

McCaffrey, 53, of Arnold said she was pleased to receive the contract extension.

“I look forward to continuing to meet the needs of our community and make a positive impact on the students at Jefferson College. Together, we can continue to effectively serve the college and Jefferson County.”

While McCaffrey got a contract extension, the board will not set her new salary until it approves a budget for the 2025 fiscal year, which will run from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.

McCaffrey said her current annual salary is $200,000.

She has been the college’s president since July 1, 2020, when she replaced Ray Cummiskey upon his retirement.

Prior to being named the college’s president, McCaffrey said she had worked there since 2007 and was dean of Career and Technical Education.
