Arnold purchases compact track loader

Arnold has replaced a frequently used piece of equipment that was requiring expensive repairs to remain in use.

The city agreed to pay $92,548 for a Compact Track Loader from Fabick Cat of Fenton to replace a track loader that is primarily used by the Parks and Recreation Department.

City Administrator Anthony Traxler said the track loader was purchased through a cooperative agreement, and Arnold was not required to seek bids to purchase it.

James Pogorzelski, interim Public Works Department director, said the city’s track loader is a 2011 model, and it currently requires about $42,000 worth of repairs to allow it to be used. He said the track loader is in constant need of repairs.

“It is used almost daily,” he said. “They keep it down at Arnold City Park and use it for almost everything. It has just reached that age where there is always a repair here or repair there. These are not cheap fixes, and you are constantly chasing a problem.”

City Council members voted unanimously on Dec. 18 to approve the purchase.
