The Arnold Police Department is fully staffed again.
The department announced on June 27 that it had hired David Humphrey and Andrew Monroe, replacing two officers who resigned earlier this year.
Chief Brian Carroll said the department has 57 police officers.
“Our last hiring process was extremely competitive,” he said. “Both Humphrey and Monroe were No. 1 and No. 2 on our eligibility list.”
Monroe, 37, of Arnold joins the department after serving as a deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He has 10 years of law enforcement experience and will be paid an annual salary of $72,217.60, Carroll said.
Humphrey, 33, of Imperial was an officer with the Kirkwood Police Department. He has eight years of law enforcement experience and will be paid an annual salary of $69,430.40, Carroll said.
“Both officers bring a wealth of knowledge and skills from their prior policing experience,” he said. “We are very fortunate that both officers joined our department.”
Carroll said the Arnold Police Department had the two openings after Officer Phillip Shearin resigned in January and Officer Austin Beavers resigned in May.
“We are not hiring any new officers at this time,” he said. “We do anticipate two or three officers retiring next year. We will start another hiring process when we have an opening.”
